Recently Bruce took out Helicopter with a cop car AND a F35 Lightning II with an Eighteen Wheeler. In the same movie:
Watching T2 today, the part where Arnold jams the brakes and the helicopter flies strait into the ass of the SWAT truck, I realized two things.
- The need for aircraft chasing action movie stars is growing and should be embraced;
- CGI In car chases should be replaced with more spectacular vehicle stunts - these vehicles can include the usual cars, trucks, vans, busses, but should also include both civilian and military aircraft.
I think aircraft have a lot to offer the movie industry in this regard, and I also think that my first point reinforces the second: studios are turning to CGI to make ever-more spectacular chases, but the use of vehicles without wheels could provide the thrill viewers want without the letdown of realizing your watching a fake chase. No one wants that. I'm not saying Bruce actually drove a truck on a collapsing freeway and took out a fighter jet, but it looked realistic enough and was damn exciting.
By the way, Does Iron Eagle count as an air to ground chase? They're kind of just racing. I mean, Doug punches the guy at the end, but I'm still undecided. It's awesome for sure. What do you think?
